This month’s 4014 Open mic will be held at The Tavern in Kemble on the 20th May. We’ve been to this venue (which is located next to Kemble Railway station) before, but since then it’s had a lovely new extension built. So, instead of being out in the cold in the old bomb-shelter style function room, this time we’ll be just round the corner from the bar. Yay!
And hopefully nothing bad will happen to my guitar this time (for those of you who don’t know the story there was an ‘incident’ which resulted in the headstock snapping right off, but let’s not dwell on that now… It got fixed and all is well with the world… *weeps at the memory of the sickening moment where I realised it was falling and I was too far away to stop it…. nooooo!*).
Anyway, I digress….It promises to be a good night – The Tavern is a nice, old fashioned friendly pub, so hopefully it will be another successful open mic event and we can get a good crowd. If you want to come along and play a few songs, then you can let us know via the 4014 website or, just turn up on the night and look for the man wondering around with a notebook or loitering around the sound-desk… usually performers get around 15 minutes, it’s free, and there’s a keyboard and guitar provided for your use (so no excuses!). It’s great fun, so if you’ve never done an open mic before now’s the perfect time to give it a try.
I think I need a lie down now.
